Hamish cannot remember a lot of the stage. Somewhere in the Netherlands. For Hamish, the 3 leaders got away on the first KOM climb, and then they were gone. To put this in perspective, there were 3 aid stations. By the 1st, 4 people had dropped out, there had been 2 at least significant crashes although nothing serious e.
Register Now. The official registration and opening ceremony with pre-race briefing for the Mongolia Bike Challenge, presented by Selle SMP, took place this evening in Ulaanbaatar. Hosted by sponsor hotel, the Bayangol Hotel, the participants collected their race numbers and briefing for the race, along with information for Stage 1. In between are six stages through the magnificent Mongolian steppes with panoramic mountain passes, unspoiled rivers and incredible views of rare beauty. Every night will be spent under the romantic roof of a traditional Mongolian ger and they will be experiencing what life must have been like for people in the days of Genghis Khan, with their two-wheeled steed parked outside. For me it manifests positive abundance, personal power, a desire for peace and a love of humanity.
Mongolia Bike Challenge is a challenging race , open both to professionals racers and high level amateurs, which will take place entirely in the lonely steppes of Mongolia from which, in the XIII century, the local herdsmen departed led by the valiant Gengis Khan in a short lived but also fast conquest of central Europe, China and the Middle east. Mongolia Bike Challenge will not be only a mountain bike race in stages, but more than anything it will be a very strenuous physical trial and a test of psycological endurance which will try every racer. In the Mongolia Bike Challenge will be new and improved and better than ever, and that is guaranteed! Shorter stages and brand new routes will offer a wider variety of participants the chance to experience the incredible beauty of the Mongolian landscape. Cyclist gets the nitty gritty from former professional Justin Morris after his experience during the race. It began with an idea from Cyclist photographer and adventure-hungry photographer Tim Bardsley-Smith. Tim showed off a few thousand images from his first year capturing the race and after some repeated peer pressure, I crumbled, found a last-minute teammate and lined up at the start at Christchurch Adventure Park. That was February and the bug of off-road stage racing had well and truly dug its way deep into my heart. It was summer time and with the cooler months looming, I needed another challenge s. Imagery of riders from across the globe the majority of entrants come from Europe bashing their way across the corrugations of outback Australia had this strangely masochistic appeal. Those two week-long races, along with many hours of training in the lead-up, left me with a rejuvenated excitement for riding my bike.
